35Dodge Street Hot Rod 302 Auto Mustang Front

I am selling this Hot Rod for a friend. I do not know much about this car but please email me with any questions and I will find out. You can also email diamondautopaint@yahoo.com for a quicker reply. Bill started building his dream Street Rod while working at a local body shop. His Army Reserve unit was called up and he went to Iraq. Bill was injured and has returned home. Bill's Hot Rod is now up for sale.
Bill started with a pretty solid body that had been sitting in an Ohio barn since the 1950's. The car was pretty much complete and Bill even got the old title when he purchased this car from the second owner. Bill pulled out the original engine and drive train and installed a 302 Ford engine and auto transmission. The engine has about 100,000 miles on it and ran great when pulled. It is all stock internally and has an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and a freshly rebuilt 650 Holley carb. The transmission worked fine also and has a shift kit and a floor shifter. If you do not need the engine and transmission we will deduct $300 from the price.
Bill installed a Mustang II front suspension and complete cross-member including the disc brakes and power rack-in-pinion steering. You also get a Ford steering column with a sport steering wheel in this deal. Bill also installed a late model rear end, I think from a Ford Ranger, but I cannot tell you what year or what gear ratio. The wheels are chrome Cragar GT style. Bill gutted the interior and doors so he could install power windows, latches, and door locks. He was also planning to install air conditioning and a custom interior. Bill never got that far before he was shipped to Iraq.
Bill did get the body and paint work pretty much done. He stripped the car down bare and primed and block sanded it till it was perfect. These 1930's cars were never perfect even when new because back during the depression people were just happy to be able to buy a new car. This car looks better than the day it rolled off the assembly line. The body is basecoat painted black with dark red fenders and there is not a ripple or a wave in the bodywork. When black is perfect you know the bodywork was done by a professional. Bill had not planned to use the hood or running boards so he did not try to make them perfect before they were painted. The hood and running boards and some of the other parts were just primed and painted black more or less just to protect them from rust during storage. The body and paint are flawless and you get a show quality job when you purchase this car.
The interior was never finished so you will need to finish it the way you want it. The floor and firewall are very nice and have been modified Street Rod style with a 6 inch engine set-back. Everything inside has been painted black. You get a nice pair of dark red bucket seats with this deal. The original rear seat springs need to be upholstered. You also get a set of custom made red door panels to use if you want them. You can install power windows etc or install the stock components if you want. There is no glass included with this sale because most of it was cracked or chipped, but all of the glass is flat so any local glass company can take care of cutting it to size for you. I have seen you can also buy the glass kits from sellers on eBay.
The lights, gages, and wiring have been removed, some of those parts are included with this sale. I have most of the parts you need to finish this car but not everything. This would be an easy car to finish. I would say over 80% of the work is done. The body and paint are flawless. If you took a stock mid 30's car with a decent body to a body shop you would pay $5,000 or more for body and paint work alone. The paint and materials for a Street Rod restoration cost in the $1,000 to $2,000 range these days and labor rates are $50 per hour. You can purchase this nearly completed Street Rod for about the same price you would pay for a nice paint job. Our loss is your gain but this car must be sold. This car would be worth at least $20,000 if Bill had finished it before leaving for Iraq, it's just that nice.
You can purchase this car as is or have it finished at Diamond Auto where the car is stored. The owner of Diamond Auto has been building race cars and street rods since the late 60s and will complete this car or any portion for a reasonable price. You will need to pay me in full before you have Diamond Auto start anything you may want them do do.
This car is also for sale locally and on eBay and RacingJunk. The eBay auction is scheduled to last for 21 days but if bids are dismal and we have a decent offer locally we reserve the right to close this auction on the 20th day. If there are decent bids we will let this auction run it's course with a $3,900 reserve. That means do not wait until the last 5 minutes to place your bids or the auction might be closed.
This car is located at Diamond Auto in Decatur, IL if you wish to stop by and take a look at it. If you win the auction you must pay a non-refundable $500 deposite within 48 hours. Half of the balance must be paid by check or money order within 10 days. If you cannot pick it up or make arrangements to have it shipped for 30 days that is fine as long as you have paid at least half of the balance owed. Buyer must pay a 5% buyers premium to cover my fees on this consignment auction. Your check or money order for the full balance must clear prior to shipping or you must pay in cash if you pick it up. We can deliver for a reasonable fee if you pay half of the balance prior to delivery.
If we deliver and your wife decides you can't have it or you cannot come up with the balance you loose any deposites you have paid. We cannot tow this car half way across the country only to find out you don't have the money and want your deposite back.. Please make sure you can come up with the money before you win this auction so that we don't have to go through this process all over again and relist Bill's Hot Rod in September.
By winning this auction you get this car and all of the parts we have for it in addition to a clear title. This is a great start to a nice Street Rat Hot Rod once somebody takes the time to finish it the way they want their car. I have seen these sell for $20,000 to $25,000 lately so this car should be one of the better bargains on eBay. Since this is an unfinished car this is an as-is-sale but I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. Thanks for your consideration.
